i Just purchased this card and im awaiting delivery But does this card sound like it will be able to handle the quake 3 engine? at all. thanks

Absolutely... I am currently using that exact video card.  I've run it on both Windows 98 SE and Window Millenium Edition.  I do, however, suggest that you get the latest drivers from the Nvidia website.
