I keep geting kicked back into windows or getting a black screen every time I try to play quake II.
I can still hear the sound and music playing.I have tried turning off everthing running in windows except I don't turn off explorer. I am able to play for a little while and then poof!there I am back on the desk top.I have had this game for a few weeks and have never been able to play it for more than a bit.Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks,    Tracy

Answer
OK first I would need a list of the hardware in the system,
then the software including the updates that you have installed I.E. video card drivers sound card and such. I can only give a couple of hints with out knowing what hardware and software you have, first check the "redering mode that it starts up with, if you try and force open GL and your card won't support it you may gat that reaction.
It does not sound like a sound card issue to me (this will give stuttering sound and just lock up) could also be as simple as a dirty cd.

if you want you can email me back direct at
jetmutant@earthlink.net and I will help you more when I know more about your system.
