Hi,

i have written a piece of code in a template file which stores a record in database whenver a page with that template is accessed. But how should I track the files like PDF files and files that are not having any templates, when they are accessed. I need to store a record in database whenever a page or file is accessed.

Hope I am clear.

Answer
You need to make a common page for accessing the file name with their id's to be stored in database. Store PDF file names also in that record.

So as soon as you are browsing that page with parameters in querystring along it will tell you which file/id page is being accessed, so you can save it in database.
