Question
what is the use of Server.HTMLEncode( Request("username") ) in asp?

Answer
There are many special characters that must be encoded to be viewed in HTML. Examples of these are: & (&), " ("), < (<), and > (>) It is easy to hardcode these into your ASP, but if these characters exist in your database, you need to dynamically encode them.

For more on this check out some of the search results listed here: http://www.google.com/search?q=Server.HTMLEncode&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&clien...
