Question
Hello,
I fear you are probably too smart for me as I know very little about this subject.  I have loaded "dotnow" free isp onto a friends 486 with windows95.  I am unable to sign up because I keep getting the error message that activeX can't create object.  Is there anything I can do?  I have read about trying to unregister the product. Would upgrading the browser from 4.0 help?  I downloaded visual basic.  As you can see, I don't really know what I am doing.

Thanks.
Brent

Answer
Hi Brent,
Firstly, have you checked up your ISP, what the minimum system requirements are?

You could try the following setting in your web browser, i assume it is IE 4.0 -  Tools - Internet Options - Security and check the security level. try keeping it at low - medium. If that does not work you could try upgrading it to IE 5.0.

you could even try to upgrade from Windows 95 to Windows 98. What is the version of Visual Basic that you are trying to work with?

Apart from using the service provided by the ISP, what do you intend to do using Visual Basic?

regards
abhi
