Actors` Exchange/Audition Help.

QuestionHi! I'm going to be auditioning for a role in "The Hobbit" very soon and I'm having a lot of trouble finding a monologue. I'm trying to get across the part of Gollum to the director because I love those crazy supporting roles and I know I can do them. The director wants a monologue with lots of movement, levels, and voice. I'm trying to find an animal-like monologue or odd monologue but I've had no luck. It should be comedic and pretty funny. Do you have any suggestions regarding similar characters, shows to look at, and specific monologues? Thank you so much!!
AnswerHello Alison,
Since the director wants a monologue with lots of movement, levels and voice, why not ask the source directly. The director should have ideas of what to audition with. If not, maybe try something from "Mid Summer Nights Dream"-a monologue by Puck. Or something from "A Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum"- a monologue by Pseudolus.
I hope this helps.
Break a leg!
