Question
Hey!
I'm auditioning for "The Secret Garden" this coming saturday. I really want the part of Dickon but have had a lot of trouble preparing for the audition. The casting call says they need a song in the style of the show. Only a couple come to mind "Les Miz" and "Scarlet Pimpernel". I love both of those shows but can't seem to find a piece that is interesting, but also shows off my range. I don't wanna bore them! Please any advice you could give me would be great! Thanks!

Answer
You'll never get the perfect song! Everything will be a compromise.
With this little time to prepare, I should think that you would be better choosing a song from your current repertoire, that you feel confident in and is "sort of ok" with the style of Secret Garden. They are more likely to give you points for singing ability than for excellent choice of song.
