Question
My mum was diagnosed as having Liver Cirrhosis. She has water in her abdomen, and now the blood test showing her kidney is not functioning well. Can acupuncture be used to remove toxin, and stabilize her liver and kidney ?.

Answer
Hi Johanes,
Ascites and liver cirrhosis can be helped with TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine).  Chinese herbs especially can be helpful in this situation.  Acupuncture can also be very helpful.  In TCM we look at things differently than removing toxins.  It is more about drain damp and balancing yin and yang. You should seek out a qualified TCM practitioner. NCCAOM.org is a good place to look.

Good Luck, I wish your mom well.
