Question
if acupuncture needles are left in for too long are there any dangers?? i had a session and my acupunctureist forgot about me and went home.. the needlesstayed in my head and feet for over an hour and a half. I'm just curious what the effectsa are if any i feel fine.

Answer
Hi Monique,
Long Acupuncture treatments can be very therapeutic.  The longest treatment I have heard of is 3 hours.  It is not dangerous to leave needles in long periods.  Some people have tiny needles on pieces of tape that they wear for weeks at a time.  Acupuncture is self regulating.  Which means even if you were needled inappropriately you body would adjust easily.  I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Sincerely,
Heather Vandeburg LAc MSOM
