Question I have had two back surgeries. I fell after the first and damaged a nerve in the lower back that controls the lower leg and ankle area. The nerve was pinched for 11 months. It never really regenerated since the surgery. Will acupuncture bring this nerve back so I can have feeling in the leg?

I have some experience with patients with nerve damage after back surgery. My latest patient has had a lot of success. He has had neuropathy in both legs and feet (worse in the right) for about 5 years post-op. His doctor told him he would never regain the feeling. He had begun to have sensation in both legs and feet after acupuncture. He is only able to feel for 24 hours after acupuncture, but I am hopeful that the amount of sensation and length of time will increase as he has more treatment. So, I think that acupuncture can help your condition. It is at least worth a try. Expect to have a full series of treatments which is 10-12 sessions. It may take more.
