Question QUESTION: Hello, my 19 year old son has been suffering from severe OCD since 13. We've tried conventional treatments first but nothing helped. Then he did acupuncture for almost a year and also took Chinese herbs for 8 months along with the healthy diet, but that didn't help either, not even a little. I would appreciate your opinion on what could be blocking his improvement and what can we do about? Is it any use for him to apply heat to the "point of longevity" (TSZU-SAN-LEE)? Thanks a lot!!!
ANSWER: What do you mean by OCD? kindly send the full form.

QUESTION: Sorry, OCD is a so-called obsessive-compulsive disorder. Thanks.
Answer Yes, Obsessive compulsive disorder responds to acupuncture treatment very well. In my 40 years career I have treated many such cases around the world with very encouraging response. The only trouble is in about 40% cases there occurs relapses which can be controlled by a maintenance course supported by proper counseling. I never used any kind of medicine except acupuncture and certain yoga exercises. Some times mixture of too many medicines and herbs may alter the prognosis leading to drug dependence. A proper pulse diagnosis by an expert is mandatory before deciding the line of treatment and point selection. Some other conditions should also be taken into consideration for example habitat and food habits of the patients especially in relapses.Kindly consult an expert in your area and make sure that treatment is based on a proper individual pulse analysis as every patient is different and so the approach to the treatment. Heat application on Tszu-san-lee point may aggravate the symptoms. There seems to be excess of heat in certain meridians which should be cooled down or directed to other deficient channels.I hope it satisfies your query. Good luck.
