Question
QUESTION: Dear Sir,
My son age 16 years has a duchnnes muscular dystrophy
He can't walk since 1 year.If accupuncture therapy is useful
for him?Please reply to me.
Thanking you,

                                  youre truly,

                                    M.H.DALAL

ANSWER: Hi Mr. Dalal,
Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine can help reduce the symptoms of Muscular dystrophy. There are a lot of great herbs to strenthen and build the muscles and tendons. We call MD Wei syndrome.  I think it would be very useful for your son.  I have seen it benefit lots of different syndromes including: multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy.  I have not treated Muscular Dystrophy myself but there are treatments for it.  My biggest suggestion is find someone who is an acupuncture expert and someone who is trained in Oriental Medicine specifically.  It doesn't matter if they practice Traditional Chinese Medicine or Japanese or Korean.  I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

My son has duchnne muscular dystrophy. His age is
17 years.I just want to know that who is the carrier of
this dieases? One my relative's son has muscular dystrophy
We are under chinese herbal medicine treatment since 6
months.Have you seen the patient who have get better and
ok after treatment?
        Please reply to me.

Thanking you,
                               truly yours,

                                  M.H.DALAL

Answer
Hi,
I am sure even a small improvement would be good. When I did my internship in China there were many children with M.D.  Some of them were not able to walk at the begging of their therapy, but were walking 6 months to a year later.  But that was continuous Acupuncture therapy every week, 2-3 times. They were also much younger. Herbal medicine may be a less expensive route for long term care.  I hope this is helpful.
