Acupuncture - lingual nerve damage

Expert: R. Scott Malone L.Ac. - 8/15/2009

Question
I have a numb lower, left lip and chin after am impacted wisdom tooth extraction.  The dentist informed me the nerve was not severed and the feeling should return in a few months.  Would acupuncture help speed this process?

Answer
Hey Patricia,

I think acupuncture has a very good chance of helping speed the process along.

Where ever you put a needle and draw the qi or energy to the needle, you also increase the local circulation. Qi is the commander of blood, so where qi goes blood goes as well.
Increased circulation is very important to speed the healing process along.

Best of luck,

Scott
