Question I have HPV and in Nov. 2009 will be the 2 year mark. I have read that HPV does not go away but with most people the body generally overrides the virus within the time period from 1-2 years. My first year I was struck with small little warts and for about 8 months now I have been dealing with an itch on my perineum. I have tried everything I can because my doctor said that itching and skin breakage comes with the territory. I don't want to use prescriptions so I have done everything from OTC yeast infection treatments, changed diets, cleansed, used vitamin E oil, taken vitamin C tablets.
I have been acting in a mind over matter fashion but there is still breakage that occurs on its own.
I really don't know what else to do besides give in to western medicine. I have read ... will Prunella work? Would Acupuncture work? Combined?
Answer Hi Amanda,
A TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) specialist will diagnose you and then treat your patterns. We don't talk in terms of HPV. We talk in terms like damp heat, toxic heat, wind, and blood deficiency. TCM can be very successful in treating stubborn viruses. There are a lot of great herbs that can help. Usually, formulas of many herbs combined together not just one. You need to go to someone who practices TCM not just acupuncture. They need to be trained in Chinese or Japanese herbs. The combo of herbs and Acupuncture will help the best. NCCAOM.org is a good place to find a TCM specialist. I hope this helps. Prunella could be a herb that may be in a formula to use. I would have to know more before I could say for sure.
