Question
I suffered sudden hearing loss in my left ear about 11 1/2 weeks ago right after my c-section. My ENT says that there is nothing else that he can do for me and says that my hearing probably will not return. Through internet searches I've read that acupuncture may be able to help. In your experience has acupuncture helped with sensorineural hearing loss? If so, how many times a week would you recommend getting acupuncture and for how many weeks/months? Also, are there any other treatment options that could help with this loss? Thanks.

Yes, hearing loss is something that can be treated with Acupuncture. Sudden hearing loss may be more easily treated than gradual onset. If it is associated with childbirth it may be due to qi (chee, vital energy) or blood deficiency. So I would say it is hopeful. Treating hearing loss is difficult. It may take many months of multiple sessions a week. Taking Chinese herbals maybe speed up the process. Make sure you go to someone trained in Oriental Medicine. Go to someone that has a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine not just a couple hundred hours of training in Acupuncture.
