Question
I have had 2, soon to be 3, vertebroplasty operations. I have degenerative discs and osteoporosis. Would accupuncture help me? Tired of these MRIs and operations--still hurting. Thank you.
I saw your question in the pool and hopefully I can help answer your question.
I have not seen structures in Degenerative Osteoporosis cases regrow or improve, but I have seen remarkable reductions in the pain associated with the degeneration with continuous acupuncture care. The amount of pain relief differs from case to case so I would suggest working with an acupuncturist who has been trained in orthopedic acupuncture (in addition to having been trained at an accredited Oriental Medicine school and have been properly certified/licensed for their area). The acupuncturist you see will be able to look at the specifics of your case and can give you a better idea of how much acupuncture may help you.

I have worked using acupuncture in private clinics, community clinic settings and in inpatient care facilities; including hospice and supportive housing residences. I currently practice in San Francisco in a private clinic, making house calls for home bound patients, and working on grant funded community acupuncture projects.
