Acupuncture/How to speed up healing of a stress fracture in the hip
Expert: R. Scott Malone L.Ac. - 4/28/2011
QuestionI am hoping you will be able to shed some light on an injury I have had since mid-October last year that has only now been properly diagnosed. Since being diagnosed (via use of a MRI and then CT scan) with a stress fracture in the left hip, I have been told by a sports professor, that all I can do for now is just rest as much as possible and then he will review again in a few months. I am just at the point where I am hoping there is more I can do to help speed the healing as I have had this terrible injury since last year which without the proper diagnosis, was being treated for everything but a stress fracture which may have slowed healing up possibly? I was told that perhaps traditional Chinese treatment may help speed the recovery. Is this possible? I just ask this as I have heard that TUINA would not in fact be good for treatment of a fracture. My hip also clicks a lot since the injury. Is this all to do with the stress fracture or is this an alignment issue that may be slowing down the healing? I hope this is all clear and that you will be able to shed some much needed helpful advice.
Many Thanks in advance
AnswerHey Chants,
Acupuncture and herbal medicine are great for helping speed up recovery. You can use both to increase circulation, which translates as faster healing.
There are great formulas for trauma as well.
I think a gentle chiropractor informed of your condition would be a good bet as well.
I think it would be a tremendous help.
Be well,
