Acupuncture/Nutritional supplements question

Question
Hi:

I would like to know which nutritional supplements or herbs should an hypoglycemic person (without diabetes) avoid?

Is it ok to take multi vitamin supplements like Centrum?

Answer
Hello Roberto,

The most important factor in hypoglycemia or insulin resistance is your diet.  You want to increase your dietary fiber intake and make healthy choices for a low saturated fat diet.  You want to avoid sugar and simple carbohydrates ie white breads, pastas, sweats.  Also eating a small healthy snack such as almonds between meals will help keep your blood sugar balanced through out the day.  Exercise is a must!!!! 30-60min per day for 5x per week.

Supplements:  Multivitamin is great but you may want to purchase one that is High Quality/ from a Doctor or Physician,  Omega 3's, and CLA are also great supplements to include.  As far as avoiding the main thing refined sugar as noted above for dietary changes.

Hope this information helps!
