Topic: Acupuncture

Expert: Prof. Dr. B.K. Singh
Date: 11/16/2007
Subject: ear itchiness

Question
I recently had an acupuncture treatment followed by cupping( only two cups and all treatment on my back) The next day and continuing until now almost a week and a half later I have itchiness in my ear canal and weeping exzema, it is not infected as it is not hot or sore but just weepy and itchy. I have not immersed my head in water and think it is linked to the acupuncture, what do you think? I mentioned it to my acupuncturist yesterday but she did not comment.

Answer
Please send full detail of the points used on you and specific areas for cupping and acupuncture treatment, otherwise in normal circumstances using a complete aseptic procedure during the treatment this should not happen. So possibilities are that your itching should not be related to the treatment you received.
