Expert: Dr. Man Tran, Ph.D, D.C., L.Ac. - 2/5/2007
QuestionHi...I have an acupuncture question for you.
I'm a medical biller and sometimes get pain in my fingers tips when I type and also in my wrists. I was wondering what acupuncture can do to help with the pain. Also, can you explain a bit about how it works relative to my issue. I have been doing some reading, but the chinese terms are a bit over my head.
Thanks
AnswerDear Victoria,
My apology for the delayed response. My internet has been down and unable to log on to attend to all questions. Each question is very important to me to do my best to provide the appropriate information.
The pain in your hands and fingers, according to Chinese Medicine, may be caused by over usage of the region causing what is known as "blood stagnation." What this mean is that from long periods of use of certain area, in your case your hands and fingers, the circulation in the meridians going through the area become stagnated like traffic jam. This result in pain. Acupuncture can help by stimulating the flow of the qi in the meridian thereby allowing proper circulation.
I hope that shed some light for you. Explaining the whole tidbit may require a lengthy reply. I did my best to keep it simple and short.
By the way, what what state are you doing the medical biller in and what type of doctor? I may need your assistance in regard to medical billing.
