Question
Dr. Tran
Could you tell me the difference between kidney yin and kidney
yang. I have heard different people use these two phrases and I
am not clear what the difference is and if other meridians have
the same aspect.
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Dear Mark,

The kidney is the foundation to all other organs in the body.  It provides the energy or Qi and essence or fluid so all other organs can property function in balance or harmony.

Generally speaking, Kidney Yin is the essence or fluid and Kidney Yang is the Qi.  Functionally, Kidney Yang serves to warm the body evaporating the Kidney Yin (fluid) to keep all other organs moist to be able to function.

Simply put it this way:  Kidney Yang is the energy or the working force and Kidney Yin is the materials for the energy to work on.

Example case:  When a man ejaculates, he loses fluid in the form of sperms which is Kidney Yin.  In order to make more sperm and fluid, Kidney Yang needs to be spent.

All other organs in the body do have a Yin and Yang aspect but their indidvidual's functions are different.

I hope this help.
