Subject: check engine light on

Question
I'm using Acura Legend 1991. It's still running good.
Occasionally, the check engine light alarm turns on when I drive on freeways, but never on the local roads. I have to stop and turn off the engine, the alarm disappears...

What could be the reasons?
Thank you very much.

Answer
Most check engine light when its 'ON' indicates that one of your sensor is bad. So to find out what sensor it is, you will have to find out what code is stored in your cars computer memory. But from your description it is most likely your car have a misfire code. Your ignition coil is faulty.
