Subject: cooling fan

Question
I have a 1990 acura integra. Its been such a great car and still is. Lately the cooling fan will come on for no reason, the engine runs cool always so the fan coming on makes no sense. The other night it came on while in the garage and ran the battery dead. I changed the sensor in the engine block, however it didn't help it. Could it be the relay switch and do you know where that is located and how I would go about checking it?

Answer
If I were you I would connect a multi meter to the fan connector and check the voltage, see if it spikes. Also try this, turn the engine on, keep the gas on to 3,000 rpm steady for 3 min roughly until the radiator fan turns on then leave it idle for 5 min. If the radiator fan turns on before 5 min start the count again. Once 5 min is up turn off the car.

Thanks,
Daniel
