Question
I wonder if you can help by telling me where on the net i can get information on how to hadle my partner after he comes from rehad the do and dont's.  I'm so scared that he will relaps as i love him so much and dont know how excactly to go throught this insuring that i dont help to his problem

Answer
Hi Quenta,

There is no general answer to your individual problem, so it's doubtful if you'll find your answer on the web. One thing for certain is that you are not alone. Every family member is scared when the alcoholic/addict comes back into the house - no one wants to be responsible for them to relapse. But be assured, they may blame you, but they're the ones who have to be responsible for their behavior

The best support you can get will be at AL ANON. Go into the net and check out when/where they have meetings. Hopefully there are meetings in your area. These people will be welcoming and non-judgmental and really helpful.

Wishing you the best

Expertise

I can answer questions on all addictive behaviors: alcohol, drugs, food, compulsive sex, codependency, gambling, compulsive shoplifting etc.

Experience

I have over 20 years experience working in the addiction field. My experience extends to all levels of substance abuse. I've worked in rehabs and detox centers, prisons and half-way houses and have a busy private practice as well as an active website where I can be reached for recovery coaching and consultation. I am a cognitive behavioral therapist, but 12-step programs are an excellent support. When working in the addiction field, there is no cookie-cutter solution. In the recovery field, you witness miracles. That's why I love what I do.
