Question
Where do you get help without joining support groups,I have spent the last ten no probably twenty years in a drunken mess I manage to hold down a job but when not at work just drink then sleep then drink again am very lonely find it hard to maintain freindships because drink makes you very rude to people. I am 44 single parent with two grown up children and a 17 year old who has for the last 8 years has to fend for himself all my children are very loving and supportive so I have no excuse really. But I really could not face a group enviorment,

Answer
Sam,
Thank you for your question.  I would strongly suggest that you mention this to your family physician, if you haven't already.  Share with him or her that you do not want to be involved with support groups but that you want to get out of the drunken mess.  He should be able to steer you to some good counselors and psychologists who could help you.
    I hope this may helps.
Grace and Peace,
Clyde
