AboutBeverley Glazer Expertise I can answer questions on all addictive behaviors: alcohol, drugs, food, compulsive sex, codependency, gambling, compulsive shoplifting etc.
Experience I have over 20 years experience working in the addiction field. My experience extends to all levels of substance abuse. I've worked in rehabs and detox centers, prisons and half-way houses and have a busy private practice as well as an active website where I can be reached for recovery coaching and consultation. I am a cognitive behavioral therapist, but 12-step programs are an excellent support. When working in the addiction field, there is no cookie-cutter solution. In the recovery field, you witness miracles. That's why I love what I do.

She is achronic alcholic I dont know what to do as she gets help with the rent I pay all the utilities I cant afford a place of my own I am afraid with all the tension of her drinking that I will end up sick again.Idont know what to do. any seggestions would be greatly appreciated
Answer Hi Charles,
You haven't supplied me with much information about your physical condition, but if the stroke has stopped you from working, speak to social services in your area. Perhaps you're eligible for a subsidy, or public housing.
You're right to be concerned about your health. Living with an alcoholic puts you in a very stressful environment.
Speak to a social worker and give all the information about your living conditions.
Another option is to rent a room or a shared appartment. You can probably find one by looking in the local paper, or check on craigslist. You can also ask friends and family members if they could refer you to someone.
I hope this information is helpful. You are not in a healthy living situation and you need to find another place to live.
