Addiction to Alcohol/my husband drinks

Question
I'm fustrded with my husband who drinks every weekend. Usually a 12pk ea.day sometimes more. I ask him to stop and he rolls his eyes and gets upset. He's gotten my kids to get him his beer from the fridge and he sees no problem with that. Which I do and really annoys me. He says he doesn't have a problem but that he just "loves beer". When he does drink he can't just drink a few he has to get drunk. I'm not sure if I can take any more of this. I need some advise please...

Answer
Hi Dolores,

Your husband probably doesn't believe that he has a drinking problem because he only drinks on the weekend, but this is binge drinking and it is a problem.

Stand firm. Tell him that he has to do something because you are very upset, and the beer comes between him and the family. Tell him that you've had enough and he needs to get help.

Here are some treatment options:

AA is probably the best way to go and he'll probably reject it because he's in denial, however, you can't live like this.

Find out if there are Al Anon meetings in your area. These meetings are for family members of alcoholics and they will welcome you.  Y ou'll also get ideas and support on how to live with this man.

Hope this information is helpful,
