Addiction to Alcohol - My alcoholic mother has been stealing my money...

Expert: james52144@earthlink.net - 4/20/2009

Question
Hi, my mom has been stealing my birthday money that my gramma has given me. I sent her an email with the copied and pasted information on the visa gift card site, where it states in my account information there were purchases from our local liquor store, but i'm pretty sure that wasn't the right thing to do...I'm only 16, and she uses that alot when I try to confront her about ANY aspect of her drinking. but stealing my money...that's not right : / especially for this. help, please :(

Answer
Dear Alex

I would agree with you. I would recommend that you set up a new bank acccount that your grandmother can deposit money into, get it secret from your mother. I also recommend that you go to Alanon, which is a support group that helps people injured emotionally or other ways by alcoholics. Good luck.
