Is there such thing as an AA group and an Al-non group that meets together with musicians, actors and artists only? I know my friend will not be interested in returning if he feels that we don't fit in (We
live in Hollywood/Los Angeles). I realize that it may see like a vain or ignorant detail, but if I can at least find a group of peers that he could relate to, that are similar to us, he would be more willing to
consider and/or commit to going. I really care about my friend and he's really dragging me down with him. I can't tolerate acting like nothing is wrong any longer while enabling him. Tonight I told him flat
out that he was a functioning alcoholic, that his drinking problem was making ME sick with stress. That I did not want anything more to do with him until he was ready to get help. He just rolled his eyes and
smiled. I know for a fact that if I ask him to some random meeting with random persons that don't seem like us (rock n' roll artist type) that he will give me that as an excuse as to not go back. Also there is
the issue about religion. Neither of us practice nor believe in any type of religion. If I choose an AA / Al-non group that will ramble on about Jesus Christ, even I may become too annoyed to return. By the
way, I am a female. Should I consider an all female Al-non group if it exists? Sincerely, R.

Yes, Specialty groups do exist! For information regarding such groups in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area it would be best if you would call your local AA and Al-anon Central Service Offices to find out where they are. I am sure that they will send you their respective meeting lists.
I am not sure if all female groups do exist in Al-anon, but I would think that...they do. It would be a question for your telephone call to them. If I can be of further help do not hesitate to call on me again. Thank you Rebos
