Hi Denise,

The term 'wet brain' applies to a permanent condition, however, there are different levels of severity.

Here are the traditional models of treatment for alcohol and drugs:

You may be well aware of them. Find the most intensive treatment and don't inquire about a facility. Ask where you can get help in the area that you live.

Your family Dr. would be the best one to refer you for a diagnosis of brain functioning. He/she may advise a chronic care facility, halfway house or other treatment facility depending on on the severity of problem. Social services could also help you once an accurate diagnisis is completed.

I've just come back from vacation and no one has picked up your inquiry, so sorry you had to wait so long.

I hope this information is helpful,

Thank you for asking All Experts

Lots of luck

I have over 20 years experience working in the addiction field. My experience extends to all levels of substance abuse. I've worked in rehabs and detox centers, prisons and half-way houses and have a busy private practice as well as an active website where I can be reached for recovery coaching and consultation. I am a cognitive behavioral therapist, but 12-step programs are an excellent support. When working in the addiction field, there is no cookie-cutter solution. In the recovery field, you witness miracles. That's why I love what I do.
