Addiction to Alcohol/Vodka and alcoholism

Question
My brother in law has been alcoholic as long as I've been married to my
husband-34 years.  Up until 8 months ago his beverage of choice was mainly
limited to beer.  Now he starts with the beer-usually a 6 pack and then starts
on the vodka until he passes out.  My husband and I have been told recently
by other people and even a "alcoholism fact" on the TV show Intervention
stated that once people start drinking vodka, their time is limited.  I would
like to know if 1) this is true and 2) what is it about vodka that it would be so
much worse than other "hard" liquors?  Also, since he started drinking vodka,
he has damaged all his personal relationship beyond repair.  In fact, all that I
can say about his behavior now is that he just plain bizarre.

Answer
Hi Alison,

Most alcoholics have limited time, because ultimately it will ruin their liver and other vital organs. It is difficult to survive with cirrhosis of the liver. Probably vodka may speed up the process.

He wants to treat his alcoholism he should familiarise himself the nature of the illness by reading and how it can be treated nutritionally;

And also read my book: Getting off the Hook on the internet.

The first step in treatment is going on a hypoglycemic diet. If problems persist, it is best to consult a Nutritional Doctor, Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychotherapist.
