Hi June,

This is a difficult question, however it can be simplified by thinking this way:

The truck is in your name and you are responsible for it. He's driving without a license. Not only can he kill himself but kill others also. As you know, an alcoholic will do what he/she wants to do, but if you allow him, you're enabling him.

It's your truck and your responsibility, so it's up to you to stand up to him. Tell him that you're nervous about him driving without a license, and from now on you're not permitting him to drive it.

Hide the keys. Tell him that if someone wants to drive him to the country, or to the bar or wherever, they can -- but unless he gets himself a drivers license, you don't want to be responsible for his behavior or any consequences that can happen because of it.

He's not going to like it, and be very angry, but stand firm. His temper is the way he gets others to give in, so hang in there. You can also help you by thinking: 'would you allow your child to take your truck without a license?' It's the same thing.

I hope this information is helpful
