Addiction to Alcohol/How much is too much

Question
Hi Druideck,

I am a 27 years old male and a regular drinker. I drink daily with in a range of 180ml to 270 ml of rum per day. I know that this is too much of drinking and want to reduce the amount of intake per day, since I've put up a lot of weight in past. Having said that, I dont want to quit drinking. Can you please suggest me the amount of alcohol(in ml) that can be consumed daily, which doesnt affect the health.

Thank you very much,

Sathish

Answer
Sathish,

About 120ml per day is considered safe
for men's health. This is if they are healthy overall.
That amounts to about 2 to 4 drinks daily maximum
A drink is about 30ml or one ounce of alcohol.

Alcohol is a problem for alcoholics
at any amount as it affects their
life in a negative way. They must
abstain or quit completely to be safe
and healthy.

You can find some tests online to check
your drinking like this one:

Let me know if you have problems cutting
down as this can be a warning sign of
addiction.
