Addiction to Alcohol/alot of beer

Question
how can someone drink a 30 pack case of beer everyday for 40 years. I have just started to notice considerable changes in his personality, and eating habits.  I have noticed he gets nauseated in the early mornings.  He drinks until he goes to bed.  He's not interested in quiting or going to the doctors. He would have to have health problems wouldn't he?  What can I expect from this point on?

Answer
Louise,
There are all sorts of drinking habits.  His is one that calls for tremendous consumption without much consequences (if he has not been in significant trouble over these 40 years).  Some people can do this because they seem to be able to drink with impunity.

He may not be alcoholic, just a big drinker. That is certainly possible.  I would guess that the medical issues will continue to show up and it is not surprising that it is showing in his digestive system and in the morning.  I am no doctor and I will not venture any further in the speculation but I would suggest that when he does see a doctor he should tell the doctor he is a heavy drinker and nauseated.  The doctor can then doublecheck the liver enzyme numbers.

Until he is willing to look into the drinking habits, I would say look for of the same.

I hope this may have helped.

Grace and Peace,
Clyde
