Question
My husband was an alchoholic and died from cirrosis about 16 years ago. Reading the posts on this blog brings back the feelings of anger and resentment.I still have to ask WHY cant they just put down the glass and STOP drinking. It seems very self indulgent and I still dont understand why they just dont STOP it

Answer
Ann,
I feel for you in your questioning.  Coming at alcoholism from the side of the alcoholic I can simply say the person is under the control of a substance.  Some of us are fortunate to be released and some are not. I have no answers - just hope for the next alcoholic
