Question
I was wondering if you could help me, I've this friend who is 20 and for a few months now she has been drinking often. Every oppurtunity she gets she's either down the pub or drinking at home. I know she has a problem and is drinking too much but she won't admit it nor can see it. I'm worry that it will do more damage than it is already. she doesnt just go out to have fun, she goes out to get drunk and will drunk so much that she doesnt know what she is doing, when she wakes up in the morning she normally never remembers anything that has happened or what she said. any advice?

Answer
Hello Rachael,

This looks to me like alcoholism. The unfortunate part is that nobody can do anything about it, except herself. She has to WANT to get off alcohol. Alcoholism is a disease caused by an internal imbalance in the production of various hormones and neurotransmitters. I have explained the disease at:

Most alcoholics have been found to be hypoglycemic and treatment includes going on a hypoglycemic diet.
