Addiction to Alcohol/Alcoholism in society

Question
I realize some can handle alcohol and some just cannot. But do you consider alcohol to be bad for all of society?

Answer
Each person will, have a different opinion on this. We cannot stop people from taking drugs, and I feel the responsibility lies with the individual and not so much government.
Government can regulate the use of drugs, but may not be able to prohibit it, because the black market will take over with a vengeance.

People can tolerate alcohol because of inborn enzymes that metabolize it. But some people lack certain enzymes or may be sensitive to alcohol for some reason or other. Once they are aware of this, I feel, they should take the responsibility to overcome the disability with perhaps the help of experts.
