-----Question-----

Can alcoholism increase the diabetic condition? Can a diabetic take alcohol? If so how much? My wife's sugar level was more than 600 (after meals)in the latest test(she's only 30). We both are alchoholics, taking more than 3 drinks a day. I put her only on two drinks, but the figures are not going down. You advice complete absistence?
-----Answer-----
I am afraid that when you are both alcoholics, I must advise complete abstinence. I know that is not easy. I don't know what 600 means, but if this means 600mg/100mL then this is extremely high.

Normally one glass of alcohol after a meal may lower the blood sugar level, but in the case of alcoholism, that does not apply.

Answer
I don't see any harm in that, but if you have any worries, you should always ask your doctor, because he should have ALL the details of the medical condition.
