Addiction to Drugs/drug testing

Question
I'm studying to become a pharmacy technician and as a requirement of my course I have to do an internship which will be coming up soon, in about two weeks or so. Ok now here's what I'm worried about. I used to smoke pot but have quit. I quit on 12/03/07 and have been sober for 40 days now.  Prior to quitting, I would smoke about 1 gram a week for five months. I know I'm going to have to take a drug test and was wondering how long it takes to get completely clean and if there's a possibility that I may still test positive.  I'm female, 5'4" and 100lbs and have a somewhat high metabolism. I regret my decision to start smoking again after having been clean for a while and I don't plan on smoking ever again. I'm really worried about failing the drug test as I've heard of people failing even after two months of being clean. Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,
Michelle

Answer
Hi Michelle, thanks for your question. If you haven't been smoking any weed since the beginning of December your system should be clean by now. It generally takes 21 to 45 days for marijuana to leave someone's system. Usually the 45 days is for someone who is a chronic, long-term smoker or someone who may have a higher body fat percentage. If you have any concerns about this you can always go to a pharmacy and pick up a home drug test for cannabis (they only cost around $10 to $15 and they are pretty reliable).
I truly hope you can stay away from the marijuana and I wish you great success with your internship.
Good Luck,
Charles
