Addiction to Drugs/effects of marijuana

Question
My son recently conveyed to me that marijuana cannot and will not kill brain cells. Growing up, I'd always heard the exact opposite. Is there any scientific verification to support his claim? Are there any sources you recommend for further study?

Answer
Kenny,

You can do a search on it but I would suggest you go to Barnes and Noble and find a book on addiction and drug abuse and the affects. Your son is wrong, it is a mood suppressant and it can cause depression and does cause memory loss. Anything that is a suppressant has this affect over time.
