Question
My Husband has been on pillers for about 3 years and that wasn't cutting it any more and he ended up a junky to herion. How could he ever get to this point. We have three kids and a new home and loving family. why? I have to many questions? How can I get help.

Answer
Hi Mary, I can certainly imagine the many questions that you have.  Would you like to speak live?  I would be much better able to answer all of your questions in that manner.

To address the one:  your husband has done what all people in addiction do.  When the body develops a tolerance to the chemical that is being consumed, it takes a more extreme chemical and rush in order to achieve the desired effect.  This is actually b/c the body is attempting to cope with the presence of a chemical like pills.  The cells actually physically transform and adapt to the chemical.  This being the case the high is greatly reduced and the person needs to try more or another chemical.

The worse part is that he cannot stop there.  He will get to the point where heroin is all that matters - not the house, the kids or you.  I do not say that to hurt you but to give you insight into what is coming without help.  He needs to takes drastic measures to change.
