Subject: My daughter is addicted to Vicodin

Question
My daughter is addicted to Vicodin, and I am wondering what to do. She
blames me, ask me for money and when I refuse I suffer. She is married with
two beautiful children. I am at a lost of what to do. I do believe that her
husband is getting the drug for her from friends and that he may also be
addicted to a drug although I do not think it is Vicodin. My grandson has told
me about them doing drugs (he has seen it) he is 12 years old. I have a
beautiful 3 year old grandaughter and I continuously worry about her. CPS
was called in but they got out of that situation. (my grandson's school called
them in because he was acting out at school) I cannot communicate with my
daughter, she swears imagines things and is very disrespectful. Her and her
husband have lost their apartment and she was staying with me until today. I
cannot emotionally take her attacks and she scares me. I just need to know
what I can do. She says I will never see my grandchildren again and I loved
them so dearly for so many years. Please help me.

Answer
Dear Anny,

Yes your daughter needs help immediately. I suggest that she be first detoxified. Contact the nearest medical center and explain your problem.  They will also help you with a drug counsellor. She will have to be admitted to a rehabilitation program which is a must.  You can also contact the nearest Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and they will be happy to help you immediately.

Please do not delay Anny because addiction is a fatal disease.  I cannot be cured but can only be arrested.  Contact me as soon as you have sought help.

God bless

Amarnath
