Question QUESTION: I have a 25 year old son who is a herion addict for the last 5 years he has gone through the jail system detoxed himself and now is using again I fear that either the drug or the detox is going to kill him and don't know how to help. I can't see this going on much longer. How can this drug completely take their lives over and as parents what can we do.
ANSWER: Hi christine,
Drug addiction is a very serious illness. Most authorities claiming to treat it, in fact have a poor understanding of the causation of the disease.
Please familiarize yourself with the underlying biochemistry of addiction and see if you can find a doctor to help your son detoxify AND treat the underlying biochemical abnormality that causes him to be addicted by nutritional means.
OIf course, your son must WANT to be treated. If not, there is little you can do.

QUESTION: Thank you for the information I have made the choice to have my son arrested on personal harm and have been told that they will hospitalize him with the hope that this will work. I am afraid if not the end is going to be my biggest fear will be hear.
Thank you again for all the information it really has been the most help that I have received in the past 4 years.
Christine
Answer Dear Christine, This is a courageous step. I know of one client who was arrested following smoking pot at home. When he refused to stop smoking, his mother informed the police and he went to jail for one week. He never smoked again.
In your case you must make sure that he be treated for the underlying biochemical disorder as explained in the article.
