Question
my name is lora. i am 17 and have been using drugs for 4 years now. i am addicted to oxys cotton and crack cocaine. i started using crack 4 years ago then i slowly switched over to oxy's and have been on them for about two years now. i am getting help but i have been really struggling. i am puking Alot i pull my hair out i cant stop picking at my skin and i cant even eat. are these normal withdraw syptoms and how long will they last for? also my mother doesnt really understand what i am going through is there any way i can get her to understand?

Answer
Dear Lora,

At the outset I am glad that you've decided to quit. The withdrawal symptoms are sweating, nausea, hot & cold flashes, uncontrollable coughing, diarrhea, insomnia, rapid heartbeat, watery eyes, excessive yawning, and depression.  Now this might last for 2-3 weeks or more.  I really don't know what kind of help you are taking but I suggest you get yourself admitted to a medical center and get detoxed.  The toxins from your body have to be removed.  After detox please start attend Narcotic Anonymous meetings.  It is only here you can really learn how to stay stop.

God bless

Amarnath
