Question
about a year ago i found a bag of heroin in my boyfriend's house. then 6 months ago his mom found it. then a couple days ago i seen track marks on his arm. i broke up with him each time i found out, but he told me he only does it once in a while and he doesnt need help. i refuse to be with him now, but i am worried about him. he is a little overweight. if he is addicted and has been doing it for a long time, wouldnt he be really skinny? and is it possible for him to do it once in a while? i know he also takes oxycontin.

Answer
Hi Dawn. Just as well you broke up with him, because drug addicts can be very manipulative and they are destroyers of relationships.

The forerunner of addiction is depression and one of the signs of depression is being overweight. It means that sugars are accumulating into fat cells, instead of being converted to biological energy, that is necessary in the production of feel good neurotransmitters.

If he wants to, he can be helped with the help of our web site. Pleas let him read:

and discuss with a Nutritional Doctor, a Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychologist if you want to.

But if he not not motivated, the best is stay away from him.
