Question My uncle, who is now living with my family and I, has been taking methadone prescribed by his doctor for his back pains. He just had surgery and it went very well. He no longer needs his medications and has decided to go cold turkey on methadone. He is having withdrawals, I was wondering if there is anything we could do as a family to help him through his withdrawals. thanks so much for your time!
Answer Hi Lauren,
Meth withdrawals usually last for 1 to 2 weeks depending on how much and how long he was on it. If you can help him keep his mind off the pain of withdrawals he should be able to tolerate it. It could also help to see a pain doctor for non opiate meds that will help. Ask him to hang in there, it won't last forever.
