Question
MY daughter will be here in a few hours. She asked for help to beat her addiction. This won't be her first trip to rehab for another drug. She is 20 years ols and has just been thrown out of where she lives, boyfriend went to jail and said she is at the point that she needs help. I have always been tough with her and I made all of the calls and arrangments(once again) She is Bi Polar. Is there anything I need to know to help her to stay clean? How long should she stay in rehab? Unfortunatly she is now considered and adult and I have less control over her staying etc.... She does try to listen to me, I want to be informed, not from opinion but the latest medical facts about how long she needs reab for and what next. She is smart and knows she won't touch methadone.

Answer
Kim,

Rehab for anyone with addiction to Narcotics should be not less then what they need individually and once she is out it takes dedication and commitment on her part to stay clean. She will have to change her life, from her habits to her friends if they use. It is a life long commitment to herself. Does that make sense?
