Addiction to Drugs/Rehab Question

I have a daughter who takes Trileptal for epilepsy, and she too tests positive on a 5 panel unrinalysis screening for Benzodiazepine. There is very limited documentation on this on the internet, and you are not likely to get any information from Novartis. Specifically, Trileptal is an immediate release drug that typically is taken several times per day. If a urine test is performed shortly after a dose is taken, a positive result for Benzos can happen. I would suggest that you have 2 tests done. First have a urine test done about an hour after the Trileptal dose is taken; hope for a positive result. Immediately follow this test with a GCMS test to identify the true source of the positive urinalysis tests. Until someone in the pharmacological field steps up to the plate, or until Novartis releases information regarding this, you are left to do your own detective work.
