Question
My son has been using a methadone clinic for a year now. He went from over 300 mg. a day to 5mg. He took a weeks vacation and is just stopping. He is using weed and some alcohol to help with the withdrawals. He wants off no clinic no suboxin. Can you give any self help to make it easier.

Answer
It is not wise to trade one substance for another unless under the supervision of a doctor. He should ask his doctor if he can prescribe something that will help and use caution because it is his body afterall. I know doctors can sometimes prescribe valium for the symptoms and make sure he drinks a lot of water and is eating properly to ease some of this.
