Question
my boyfriend of over two years is using heroin. I found out last august and he immediately went in to rehab. he was clean and sober for 7mths until something emotional happened one night and he started obsessing. It took him two weeks to give in to heroin after that night and got arrested. that's how I found out he was back on drugs. now he is going back to treatment.

from what I am reading and the information I am gathering... there is not that much hope for him. Heroin is that powerful. I am smart and extremely educated and I have a lot of plans for myself in the future which included him at some point.  he is also smart educated with an amazing job... I am a Christian..... and understand standing by and to be forgiving. But I am also very logical to understand that there probably is no hope for him. I think I am lost. My heart wants to give him one more chance.. and my brain says run for dear life......what should i do? He has never stolen from me he has never hurt me in my relationship with him. he is a perfect boyfriend but has a problem..... he is just starting this long journey with heroin.. what do i do?

Answer
Dear melissa,

Yes, there is hope for him, if you know how to treat drug addiction. He can do it himself by
reading articles at my web site and reading my book, which is freely available on the internet. Most drug rehabilitation centres are good at helping people to withdraw, but because they usually do not understand the underlying biochemistry of drug addiction, they cannot help addicts staying off drugs for most of the time.
